A personal message

Hey folks!

It's Peter here, and I just wanted to drop a personal message for an emotional year.

This weekend marks Barcadia's first birthday - even though it feels like we've only been open 5 minutes! - and I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for visiting Barcadia, for playing our machines, for leaving reviews, for spreading the word, for commenting on our posts or for interacting in any way, your support means so much!

It's been one hell of a journey switching from YouTuber to running an Arcade Bar, but boy has it been rewarding. There are times when it has been the greatest thing I've ever done and times when it has been the hardest thing I've ever done. As so many business owners know, running an independent business is incredibly challenging, especially in hospitality at the moment, and there are definitely times when I wondered whether it was all worth it. But every time someone walks in and says "this place is great", gets giddy at seeing Mortal Kombat, lights up after trying a cocktail or walks out with a smile on their face, I know it's been worthwhile.

I've met some incredible people on this journey so far and worked with some amazing local businesses. I'm also very lucky to have some amazing staff, friends, family and backers supporting me, without which it just wouldn't be possible. So I wanted to say a separate thank you to them. Barcadia would be nothing without you.

If you haven't had a chance to pop into Barcadia yet, we'd love to see you here. Whether it's just for a drink, to play the machines, join our quiz or grab some of the new amazing food we'll be dishing up at the end of the month. We've also recently added more seating and mixed things up a bit to make it even more inviting.

As a thank you, we'll be giving a special birthday discount Thurs-Sat this week to anyone who comes in. 

Barcadia has already become a bit of a hub for retro gamers, arcade lovers and people who just enjoy a chilled drink. Events like the Debug Indie Showcase, The High Scored Band and our regular quizzes are really finding their target audience, and it's great to see. But, we've got a lot of plans for the coming year, including more live music, quizzes, tournaments, fairs and some really exciting shows. We think you're going to love it.
